The Mojo Returns!

A few weeks ago I bought a huge hank of Fleece Artist Country Silk in (I think) Rainforest and my first set of Addi Turbos. I had been eyeing Brainylady's version of the Woodland Shawl and it seemed like the perfect project and the perfect time to start something new. Sure, I had lots on the go already, but none of them were thrilling me in the way I wanted. After a false start (my needles were a size too big; everything was WAY too airy), I was off to the races.

On Remembrance Day weekend, a group of my friends and I made a trip to Halifax. I was LOVING my shawl and I brought it to work on in the car and any other time the urge struck. The urge struck hard on Saturday in particular when I spent the afternoon at Tangled Skeins with some of my favourite people. It was great to see Steph again and Lisa and I hit it off right from the get go (I knew we would!). Alison was there at first and the Ninja stayed and visited for quite awhile too. It was a great afternoon and by the end of it I had two skeins of Oceanwind Knit merino in Rainforest, yarn for my slippers and another set of Addis to replace the circs I had been using for my wrap.

This is love.

When I got back to the hotel, I found out that I'd also come away with a self-portrait of a certain little green ladies man.

Henry! I miss you!

By the time Monday rolled around and it was time to head for home, it was clear that I wouldn't be able to knit my shawl all the way home. I'd left the rest of my yarn at home so I needed needles and, if at all possible, to wind one of the skeins of Oceanwind yarn so I could cast on for a sock like the sample I'd seen hanging at Tangled Skeins on Saturday. Crafty Canadian and I were chauffeured back to TS to pick up the yarn and notions we needed to supplement our Saturday purchases. I wound my yarn, bought some needles, eyeballed the sock de nouveau and picked up a couple of skeins of yarn for warm things my niece needs. All in all, it was a very productive trip.

I'm still knitting up a storm and loving every minute of it. Christmas is coming, though, and I need to decide what my goals are. Knit goodies for everyone? I might need to hire a project manager if that's going to happen!

Slippers

It's raining here. Pouring like a mo-fo, actually. I went out to dinner with friends tonight and ended up talking about the weather (shocker) and adjusting to drop in temperature. I mentioned that I'm starting to notice how cold my feet are at night and the girls asked if I had cozy slippers.

Here's the thing -- I'm not a slipper fan. In fact, I can barely abide socks. Late last winter I finally caught on and started wearing heavy socks in the evening at home and it made a huge difference...even if my toes did long to be free at times.

So no, I don't have slippers. Some very cozy socks have gotten a lot of action in the past year but I've never been moved to make myself a pair of slippers.

Until I saw THESE. Ooh la la!

I've been wanting to knit a pair of Log Cabin Socks (like the ones Phoebe made for me) and now I have the perfect excuse.

Maybe I'll shop for the perfect yarn while I'm in Halifax this weekend...Hmmmmmmmm?
